New Year's Resolutions

I will do better with this blog. Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville is my role model. If she can keep up with the teaching,  the quilting, designing, writing, blogging, facebook, traveling, then so can I.

I am getting better at Facebook and try to post there daily, both on my personal/family page and on my business page.I also post on Pinterest. I love it.  Now to figure out how to connect it all.

I will also do better at taking pictures of works in progress and finished work. Not only am I remiss, but my customers often don't take pictures either and they are asking me if I took any. To that end, I must investigate Instagram.

My friend Deb Sanger made this for me in honor of my retirement. Its name,"Charting a New Course." I love it. Thanks, Deb.

Career Changes

A year ago I was anxious, tense, and fearful about losing my job. Well, I did get the letter stating that as of July 1, my position would be abolished. I returned to the classroom and lost $13,000 in income. I love the students; I love the other teachers I work with. I am grateful to have a job and am very aware that financial ruin and homelessness are one paycheck away for me.  I do not like, however, the demands on my time after school hours to grade papers and make lesson plans. Just before Christmas, I decided to retire. I am so looking forward to this June!

Hello

I'm a new blogger. Having stepped down as the coordinator (president) of Uhuru Quilters Guild, I miss the monthly Coordinator's Corner I used to write. Now that I've taken the plunge and created this blog, I hope I won't bore with my comments about quilting and crafting, pets, co-workers, children, parents, approaching retirement----life in general.

Sewfully,
Carol
